Porche Named South Central Co-Coach of the Year by ABCA

TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler baseball head coach Brent Porche has been named the ABCA/ATEC South Central Region Co-Coach of the Year as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Coach Porche shares the award with Kevin Brooks of Angelo State and is one of nine coaches awarded regional coach of the year honors.

Porche led the Patriots to their first ever trip to the NCAA Division II College World Series while making the quarterfinals. The Patriots went 49-13, setting a new program record for wins in a season while also claiming their first ever NCAA South Central Region crown.

This award marks the first Division II honor for Porche. He was previously named the ABCA/Diamond National Coach of the Year and the West Region Coach of the Year in 2018 when he commandeered UT Tyler to their first ever national championship in program history.

Coach Porche hit the 400 win mark for his career earlier this season and is now 442-220 over his 13 seasons and an impressive 295-137 in his nine seasons with the Patriots.
