UT Tyler Athletics Announces 2025 Hall of Fame Class

TYLER, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler athletic department has announced their 2025 Hall of Fame class that will be inducted at a ceremony on October 4th at the University Center Ballroom.
 
The 2007 baseball team, Brett Holland (Baseball), David Ashlock (Men's Tennis), Brittany King (Women's Basketball), and Joey Cronin (Softball) will make up this year's class.
 
"Our vision is to mold our student-athletes into champions of character, champions in competition, and champions in their careers," UT Tyler athletic director Sam Ferguson said. "This year's Hall of Fame class represents a vision realized. We are proud of this amazing group of student-athletes who are talented athletes and great people who are making an impact beyond the game. We are excited to celebrate them!"
 
The 2007 baseball team, led by head coach and UT Tyler Hall of Famer James Vilade, put together one of the best year's in program history as they went 37-1 overall and won the ASC East Division title. They went 23-0 at home at Irwin Field and finished 17-1 in ASC play for the year. 12 players earned All-ASC honors, Vilade was named ASC East Coach of the Year, five players earned All-Region honors, and Brett Amyx was named a D3Baseball.com All-American in what was the program's final season of NCAA Provisional Membership.
 
Brett Holland played for the Patriots from 2006-09 and turned into one of the program's best arms. He holds program strikeout record (284), most complete games (16), is second all-time in career wins (27), third in starts (36), and is third in innings pitched (231.2). He also holds the two highest strikeout seasons in program history and has the second and third highest strikeout totals in a single game. He earned three total All-America honors over his final two seasons and was also named a CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-American in his senior season.  
 
David Ashlock was a four-year member of UT Tyler men's tennis from 2007-10. In that timeframe he became one of the most dominant Division III players in program history. He was named an All-Conference award winner all four seasons and was a three time academic all-conference award winner. His senior season he was named the ITA West Region Arthur Ashe Award winner, the ASC Fred Jacoby Sportsmanship Award winner, the ASC East Division Sportmanship Athlete of the Year, and was an ITA All-American. He holds the most doubles wins in UT Tyler program history with 70, and is second all-time in a single season with 22.
 
Brittany King left her mark on the women's basketball program, becoming one of the two All-America selections in program history. King was a dominant force, earning All-Conference selections three different times while also being named to the All-ASC defensive team her senior year. Her junior season, she was named a D3Hoops.com All-America honoree while leading the program to the NCAA Sweet 16, an ASC Regular Season and Tournament championship, and a 27-4 overall record as the program made their first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She stands first all-time in field goal percentage, first in free throws made, first in rebounds, third in career points, second in scoring average, and holds the second and fourth most points in a season and second, third, and fourth best marks in field goal percentage in a season in program history.
 
Joey Cronin was a four year member of UT Tyler softball from 2010-2013. She was a force for the Patriots, earning four straight First Team All-ASC honors, four straight All-West Region honors, a 2012 Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America honor, and a 2013 NFCA First Team All-America honor. She remains in the top 10 in program history in career batting average (9th, .402), slugging percentage (5th, .697), most games played (8th, 197), most runs (2nd, 210), most doubles (2nd, 65), most triples (2nd, 10), homers (4th, 35), and RBI (6th, 163). She was also part of a third place team at the 2011 World Series and a fourth place team at the 2013 World Series.
 
These inductees will be officially enshrined into the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame on October 4th as part of a ceremony open to family and friends inside the University Center Ballroom beginning at 9:30 a.m.
