TYLER, TEXAS – The UT Tyler women's soccer program opened their home schedule with a night to remember, celebrating Senior Night and earning a 2–1 win over Northeastern State at Citizens First Bank–Perkins Soccer Complex on Saturday evening. The victory pushes the Patriots to a perfect 3–0 start on the year as they prepare to begin Lone Star Conference play next week.
The energy from a packed home crowd carried into the opening minutes, and it didn't take long for the Patriots to give their fans something to cheer about. In the 13th minute, senior Natalie Jones put UT Tyler in front with the first goal of the contest. The score came off a well-placed ball from fellow senior Brooke Mullins, who slipped a pass into the box that Jones buried for the 1–0 advantage. The strike set the tone for much of the first half, as the Patriots controlled possession and out shot the RiverHawks 9-2 in the first.
After taking the one-goal lead into halftime, UT Tyler wasted little time extending their advantage. In the 66th minute, sophomore Ella Anderson doubled the scoreline, finishing off a buildup created by Marin Love and Quinn Wolfe. The goal gave the Patriots some breathing room and was ultimately the goal they needed to win.
Northeastern State managed to cut the deficit late, scoring in the 87th minute to make it 2–1. But the Patriots held strong in the closing minutes, leaning on their defensive unit and goalkeeper Emily Clark, who was only tested twice on the evening. Clark finished with one save as UT Tyler limited the RiverHawks to just five shots total across the 90 minutes.
Statistically, UT Tyler dominated the match, finishing with a 16–5 advantage in total shots and an 8–2 margin in shots on target. Jones and Anderson combined for six shots, while Mullins added three of her own in an active night up front. The Patriots' midfield consistently disrupted NSU's rhythm, and the back line kept the visitors at bay until the late goal.
With the non-conference schedule now complete, the Patriots turn their attention to the challenges of Lone Star Conference play. UT Tyler will open conference action on the road next Wednesday, traveling to Odessa to face UT Permian Basin. The Patriots will look to continue their unbeaten start as they enter conference competition.
