Whataburger Week One Preview: Men's Golf

The Patriots head to Michigan for their first tournament of the fall slate.

THE 2024-25 SEASON

The Patriots put together another strong year last season, booking their second straight trip to the NCAA South Central/West Regional Tournament. PING All-American Seth Campbell led the program as they record six top five finishes and won the Oak Tree Invitational.

EARLY RECOGNITION

UT Tyler begins the year in the Receiving Votes category of the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll. They are joined by LSC foes #7 Oklahoma Christian, #13 St. Mary's, #22 Midwestern State, (RV) West Texas A&M and (RV) DBU.

A CAST OF NEWCOMERS

Preston DeSerrano, Luke Emerson, and George Trappey are the only three returners to the program from last season, and just one of those, Emerson, has been with the program for more than one season.

Braden Bergman (SFA) and Jacob Holloway (PVAMU) will be the lone transfers in a freshman-heavy group. Corbin Murray, Ty Krismer, Blake Harwell, Preston Chabaud, and Connor Carver each come in as freshman and will make an immediate impact on the program.

THE FALL SLATE

This fall, the Patriots will take on four total tournaments. Following this week's action they will head to the Dunning Invitational in Mississippi, a tournament they placed second in last season. Following that week, the Patriots will head to the Shootout at Riviera Maya in Gran Bahia Principe, Mexico in the last week of September before rounding out their fall at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational on October 14 and 15 in Amarillo, Texas.

THE PILGRIM'S RUN INVITATIONAL

This week's event will be hosted by West Texas A&M in Pierson, Michigan at Pilgrim's Run Golf Club. Several Division II programs will be participating, including West Texas A&M, Fort Lewis, Tiffin, Ferris State, Pittsburg State, Saginaw Valley State, Northwood, Davenport, and Cedarville.

The teams will play 54 holes, with 36 coming on Monday morning beginning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. UT Tyler will be paired up with Pittsburg State and Northwood to begin the tournament.
