Patriots Hold Oklahoma Christian to Scoreless Draw

Robby Curry Earns Fifth Shutout in Scoreless Match

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA — The UT Tyler Women's Soccer program ended their match against Oklahoma Christian with a 0-0 tie Wednesday night. The Patriots were held scoreless in back to back games for the first time all season despite finishing the night with a number of chances.

UT Tyler put the offensive pressure on the Eagles early as Ella Anderson hit the top woodwork with her shot in the 15th minute. Then, a little past the halfway point of the first half, the Patriots added three more shots and two corner kicks in a seven-minute span as Danica Anaya tried to put her team up front with two attempts of her own.

The Patriots reached halftime scoreless after withstanding a late Oklahoma Christian push that included two corner kicks and three shots.

UT Tyler would put the first shot on goal in the game 15 minutes into the second half as Celine Diaz sent a low shot towards the net that was stopped by the Eagles keeper. Anderson would do her best to give the Patriots the lead with less than two minutes left on the match with her fourth shot, but the low attempt was sent away to keep the game scoreless.

Robby Curry made both of her saves in the second half to keep Oklahoma Christian off the board, as the senior secured her fifth shutout of the season. Samantha White and Arianna Johnson anchored the defense with 90 minutes played.

The final offensive stats reflected a close match, with each team finishing with nine shots and two shots on goal. Anderson led the Patriots in shots with four, including one on frame, while Celine Diaz added three shots and also put one on goal

With the draw, UT Tyler is now 5-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in Lone Star Conference play. Up next, the Patriots will host West Texas A&M on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. at Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.
