EDMOND, OKLAHOMA – UT Tyler tennis combined for a 5-0 weekend as both teams took down Southwest Baptist on Saturday in a neutral site matchup in Edmond.

The men got started at 9 a.m., and took just 26 minutes to secure the doubles point and move ahead 1-0.
Trevor Short and
Job Japelj put together a 6-2 win in line #3, and
Malo Poulesquen and
Carel Wessel added their own 6-2 win in line #1.
Samuel Antwi and
Artiom Dorofeev capped off a sweep in doubles, winning their match 6-4.
Over in singles, it quickly became a Patriots landslide, with
Martin Despodov starting the effort with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in line #6. Both Dorofeev and Antwi would tack on wins of their own, each taking less than an hour and ensuring the Patriots win. Dorofeev dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win, and Antwi dropped just two in a 6-1, 6-1 win.
The Patriots added three more wins to ensure their second straight 7-0 win, with Wessel taking a 6-2, 6-3 win and Poulesquen taking a 6-2, 6-1 win. The final match would be
Jordi Garcia Portell, who took a 6-2 first set win before a slightly more dramatic second set at 7-6 (7-3).

In the women's match that began at 12 p.m., the Patriots got a walkover win in doubles line #3, meaning they needed just one doubles win to take a 1-0 lead.
Yona Bancarel and
Natalia Gorzny answered that call, taking a 6-3 win in line #1 to move ahead in the match.
In singles they would get another walkover win in the #6 line, as
Emily Ryan would move forward with the win and double the Patriots lead.
That left the Patriots needing two points to win the match, and they got them both after just 52 minutes.
Luisa Moraes stepped up in the #4 line, taking a 6-0, 6-2 win, and
Sabrina Pugh followed with a 6-0, 6-4 win to put the Patriots ahead 4-0.
The Bearcats took their own straight sets win in line #3, but
Hailey Zhang responded with a brilliant 6-0, 6-4 win in line #1. The final win of the day came from
Maria Antonio Ortega, who responded from a 4-6 first set with sets of 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (10-4) to secure the sixth and final point for the Patriots.
The men's tennis team will now head to Indianapolis, Indiana next weekend to take on the ITA Indoor National Championships. They will face no. 3 seed and #4 ranked West Florida to open up their week.
The women's team will take on Collin College and McNeese State in a pair of exhibitions at Summers Tennis Center on the 14
th and 15
th. They will next be in action on February 20
th against Harding, also at home.
