DALLAS, Texas - The UT Tyler women's golf program finished Day One of the DBU Classic in sixth place after shooting +34 (610) overall Monday at Dallas Athletic Club. The Patriots improved by four strokes in the afternoon round, finishing with a score of +16 (304) after opening the day shooting +18 (306).
The Patriots were featured a balanced lineup that saw all five players finish the opening 36 holes within seven strokes of one another.
Senior
Emmerson Doyle led UT Tyler after day one and sits at 3 over par through two rounds after shooting +2 (74) and +1 (73) for 147 total overall.
Ava Murcer followed close behind her teammate at +9 (153) after rounds of 77 and 76. Murcer highlighted her day with three birdies during the opening.
Abigail McWilliams and
Lindsey Li finished day one tied at 12 over par (156). Li showed consistency with scores of +6 in both rounds while Williams improved on her first round by two shots.
Laura Goetz ended her opening day at +14 (158). The Junior from Germany added a total of six birdies across the 36-hole day, including four during the opening round.
As a team, the Patriots combined for 26 birdies which was fifth overall. Doyle was able to end the opening day tied for 5th in average score on Par four's.
UT Tyler will return to the course Tuesday morning for the final round of the DBU Classic, looking to climb the leaderboard and close out their first tournament of the season strong.
