Patriots Athletics Name Tyler Greene Assistant AD for Media Relations

Greene joins UT Tyler after nearly five years in television, including three years as Sports Director at KTXS-TV.

TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler Director of Athletics Sam Ferguson has announced the hiring of Tyler Greene as the Patriots' Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations.

Greene joins UT Tyler after nearly five years of experience in television broadcasting, most recently serving as Sports Director, Anchor and Reporter at KTXS-TV in Abilene. In his new role, Greene will serve as the primary media relations contact for women's soccer, track & field, men's basketball, golf and baseball while working alongside the Patriots' athletics communications staff to promote and support UT Tyler's 17 NCAA Division II programs.

"Tyler has already made an impact on our department through his gift for storytelling," said Ferguson. "His career has been built on shining a spotlight on the people behind the headlines, and that's exactly what makes him such a great fit for UT Tyler. We want our community to connect not only with our championships, but also with the incredible student-athletes and staff who make them possible. Tyler's experience in television and his passion for intercollegiate athletics will help us tell the Patriot story in a powerful way. We are delighted to have him on our team!"

Greene spent nearly half a decade with KTXS-TV, beginning as a News Multimedia Journalist and Anchor in October 2021 before being promoted to Sports Director and Anchor in October 2023. As Sports Director, Greene led the station's sports department and oversaw daily sports coverage across broadcast and digital platforms while anchoring nightly sportscasts and producing original stories focused on high school, collegiate and regional athletics.

During his time at KTXS, Greene covered major sporting events, playoffs, championships and breaking sports news for local teams at the High School, Division 1 and Division 3 levels. He also produced digital and social media content to expand sports coverage beyond television broadcasts.

"I'm excited to join the UT Tyler family and ready to help continue and grow the success of Patriot Athletics. One of my key goals is to expand the stories behind our teams and athletes as we look to connect with the community and beyond." said Greene.

A native of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, Greene's passion for sports began on the baseball field. He played junior college baseball at Glendale Community College, where the program was consistently ranked among the top 10 in California.

Greene continued his education at San Francisco State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts. He also earned an associate degree in Speech Communication during his time at Glendale Community College.

Before joining KTXS, Greene gained experience in digital sports media with The Sports Virus, where he managed social media content, edited podcast highlights and promotional videos, and supported daily production needs.

Greene's broadcasting background includes experience in reporting, anchoring, live coverage, producing, shooting, writing, editing and digital storytelling. His experience covering collegiate athletics from the media side will now transition to helping tell the stories of Patriot student-athletes, coaches and programs.

Outside of his professional career, Greene enjoys playing golf and other sports, attending live music events and exploring the area in search of great food.

Greene officially began his role with UT Tyler on September 1.
