Perez made an immediate impact as a freshman providing plenty of power in the Patriot lineup. She led the team with 19 homeruns and 69 RBI’s while batting .462 and slugging .986. Of her 73 hits over the course of the season, 42 went for extra bases while Perez came across home plate 33 teams. Perez made her mark on the Patriot record book breaking the previous marks for slugging percentage, home runs and total bases in a single season. She recorded the second-most doubles and RBI’s in a season while her season batting average was third best for a single season in program history. Her efforts earned Perez a number of postseason accolades including first team NFCA All-America, NFCA/Schutt Sports National Freshman of the Year, and NFCA/Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year. She was also named All-ASC and the ASC Freshman of the Year.
PERSONAL: Perez is the daughter of Joe and Linda Perez and a sister to Jacob. She graduated from Pflugerville High School in 2017 where she played for David Sisson. Perez is majoring in education and plans to become a third grade teacher after graduation. She chose UT Tyler because her visit felt like a home away from home.
