Biography

2018: At the plate, Welch appeared in 55 games. In his 194 at-bats, Welch recorded 54 hits and led the Patriots with 32 walks for an on-base percentage of .386. Of his 54 hits, 11 were doubles, three were triples, and two left the ball park while he drove in 35 runs and scored 32 more of his own. Welch also stole a career-high 12 bases as a junior. Making his collegiate debut as a pitcher during the season, Welch pitched in eight games, including a start. Over 13.1 innings pitcher, he struck out eight batters en route to a 1.35 ERA and a 2-0 record. At the end of the regular season, Welch was named Honorable Mention All-ASC.

2017: Limited to just 28 games, Welch was fourth on the team with a .345 batting average. In 119 at-bats, he picked up 41 hits and reached base 12 times via a walk. Welch drove in 23 runs before coming around to score 29 runs of his own. While on the base paths, he stole 10 bases, twice as many as his freshman season total. At the end of the regular season, Welch was named Honorable Mention All-ASC.

2016: Appearing in all 51 games as a freshman, Welch was third on the team with a .340 batting average in 209 at-bats. He recorded 71 hits and 26 extra base hits including 15 doubles, 10 triples and a home run. His 71 hits were one off the team lead while his 10 triple broke the single season Patriot record. While driving in 36 runs, he came around to score 52 runs of his own to lead the Patriots. At the end of the regular season, Welch was named Second Team All-ASC.

Welch attended Plano Senior High School, home to the Wildcats. He
graduated high school in May of 2015. He was coached under Rick
Robertson. He was awarded Honorable Mention All District in 2015. He
played on the travel team DBAT under coach Bonesio.

Personal:
Parents are Jason and Cyndi Welch and brother to sibling to Cora Welch.
His father Jason played baseball at Bowling Green State University
through 1986-1990. He is majoring in Civil Engineering. Welch hopes to
become a civil engineer and help improve infrastructure around Texas.
