Prior to UT Tyler: Played at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Grayson College, and the University of Texas at San Antonio… At Grayson College, earned Second Team All-Conference honors at second base… At UTSA, received the Rowdy Award for Best Teammate and was named to the American Conference All-Academic Team… In 2022 at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, made 14 appearances with four starts and scored four runs on six hits before taking a medical redshirt in 2023… In 2024 at Grayson College, appeared in 48 games with 164 at-bats, recording 49 hits, seven doubles, one triple, one home run, and 32 RBIs while slashing .299/.397/.372, stealing four bases, posting 84 putouts and 58 assists for a .922 fielding percentage, and turning nine double plays… In 2025 at UTSA, played in five games with one start, tallying two hits including a double, one RBI, one run scored, one walk, and one hit by pitch.
High School: Graduate of Kaufman High School… Played baseball and football… Earned Second Team All-District as a freshman and was named Superlative Underclassman of the Year as a sophomore… As a junior, was recognized as a THSB 5A Top 100 Batting Average selection… As a senior, earned THSB 4A Top 200 honors in runs and doubles, was named a Lonestar Preps Top Shortstop, Defensive MVP, and selected to the THSBCA 4A Elite All-Star Team… Holds the school record for putouts and total chances… Played travel/select baseball for Adidas National under Mark Klein.
Personal: Son of John and Crystal Maldonado… Has two siblings… Majoring in Kinesiology… Traveled to Clearwater, Florida for a conference championship and to Los Angeles, California for Super Regionals, and was coached in high school by former MLB players Chuck Knoblauch and Gerald Young… Favorite hobby is hunting… Favorite food is Mexican food and favorite drink is Diet Coke… Chose UT Tyler for the opportunity to play for a great program and coaching staff and to compete for a national championship… Favorite thing about UT Tyler is the baseball field.
