Ryan Spencer just finished his first season as an assistant coach under head coach Chris Bizot in the 2022-2023 year.

Spencer makes his return to UT Tyler after spending three seasons as the head men's and women's tennis coach against former conference foe University of the Ozarks in the American Southwest Conference.

During his time with the Eagles, Spencer guided both the men's and women's program to the ASC Championship Tournament, totaled nine academic all-conference selections, 18 ITA All-Academic honorees, and the women's program earned ITA All-Academic team status in 2022.
 
Spencer served as the interim assistant coach for UT Tyler in 2017 and was a graduate assistant coach for Mississippi College from 2015-2016. With the Choctaws, Spencer helped the women's program reach the semi-finals and the men's program reach the finals of the National Christian College Athletic Association national tournament.
 
During his playing career, Spencer amassed a combined singles and doubles record of 134-54 over four years. He spent his first season at Kennesaw State, and was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team. He then transferred to UT Tyler, where he became a nine time All-American Southwest Conference selection over three seasons.
 
Spencer was a part of two conference championship teams with the Patriots, and also qualified for the 2012 NCAA Division III tournament in doubles. He is third all-time in UT Tyler history in singles and doubles total wins and also served as a team co-captain.
 
Spencer earned his bachelor's degree in History from UT Tyler, and went on to earn his master's degree in Athletic Administration from Mississippi College.
 
Spencer hails from Katy, Texas, and joining him in Tyler will be his wife Janae, who enjoyed a four year career for UT Tyler women's tennis, and their three children. Â
