Anthony Springer just finished his seventh season as an assistant softball coach at UT Tyler during the 2022-2023 year, where he serves as the pitching coach. Springer brings over 30 years of coaching experience to the Patriot coaching staff, and the Patriots led the American Southwest Conference with the lowest ERA in each of his first four years since joining the staff before the program transitioned into NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference in 2020.

During his five seasons, the UT Tyler pitching staff has produced three All-Americans, four All-Region recipients, and nine All-Conference selections. During Springer’s first season, the Patriots won the National Championship and were led in the circle by Schutt National Player of the Year Kelsie Batten. In 2016 and 2018, Patriot pitchers were selected as ASC pitchers of the year (Batten in 2016, Colleen Bentke in 2018) and in 2017, Whitney Romero was named ASC Freshman of the Year.

Springer is heavily involved in East Texas Youth Softball and is Regional Director of the NFA. He also serves as the Head Softball Coach for The Brook Hill School who has made the state final four in six of his first nine seasons.

Springer is also a 4 Star Master Coach and registered member of National Fastpitch Coaches Association

“Coach Springer is a great teacher of the game and a great person,” UT Tyler head coach Mike Reed said. “We are lucky have to have a pitching coach of his caliber to work with and develop our pitchers.”
