PRIOR TO UT TYLER: Joins UT Tyler after four years of NCAA Division I playing experience between two different programs… Played her first two seasons at Lamar before spending the past two years at Kansas… Earned All-Academic Big 12 honors at Kansas, playing in 55 games over the past two years after starting 113 games in two seasons at Lamar… Was named the team's Most Improved Player and defensive MVP at Lamar, and she started 36 games at catcher and 17 games at shortstop for Kansas in the 2019 and 2020 seasons… Graduated from Cedar Creek High School, where she was a four-year starter who posted a career .461 batting average with 75 career RBIs… Earned honorable mention all-state honors as a shortstop in her junior year and at catcher as a senior… Batted .472 with 30 RBIs as a senior… Named team MVP as a junior and senior… Played travel softball for the Texas Blaze Gold.

PERSONAL: Parents are Sam Hughston III and Starla Hughston… Has two brothers (Hunter, Eric)… Younger brother Hunter plays football at Luther College (NCAA Division III)… Majored in liberal arts and sciences and is pursuing a graduate degree in Kinesiology… Would like to coach softball and teach science after graduation… Enjoys hunting, fishing, and crafting… Chose UT Tyler because it was the perfect fit for her as the program is successful in both academics and athletics; “being part of a team that gets the job done on and off the field is a team that I want to be on!"
