2019: Earned All-ASC second team honors for the third consecutive season after posting a 12-2 record with 2 saves and a 2.36 ERA in 68.1 innings to help lead UT Tyler to a 36-4 campaign in its final season of Division III competition… Made 19 appearances, including 14 starts… Recorded 50 strikeouts, allowing 57 hits and 26 runs (23 earned) with 25 walks while holding opposing hitters to a .222 batting average… Claimed wins in each of her first five starts of the season… Tossed four complete games with two shutouts, including a 5-inning three-hitter against McMurry (March 1) and a 6-inning two-hitter against Belhaven (March 29)... Recorded a season-high 7 strikeouts over 4 shutout innings in an 18-1 win over Letourneau, allowing one hit and two walks in the victory… Earned ASC All-Academic Team honors for the second consecutive season.
2018: Romero made 19 starts in the circle and appeared twice in relief... She finished the year with a 13-1 record and an ERA of 1.86... In 86.1 innings, struck out 83 batters and help opponents to a .207 batting average... Tossed six complete games including three shutouts... Named All-ASC second team, along with ASC All-Academic Team and ASC Distinguished Scholar Athlete.
2017: Pitching 98 innings as a freshman, Romero earned a 14-1 record... Finished the season with 12 complete games and eight shutouts while recording an ERA of 1.36... Added one save in eight relief appearances... Opponents hit just .176 against Romero during the season with the freshman punching out 80 batters... The batting average against Romero marked the fourth-lowest in UT Tyler history... Honored with All-ASC second team honors and also earned NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete recognition.
PERSONAL: Romero is the daughter of Paul and Nichol and a sister to Kathryn... Played high school softball at St. Thomas More Catholic High School under Andria Waguespack... Her sister Kathryn played softball for Milsaps College from 2014-2017... Majoring in biochemistry and plans to become an orthopedic surgeon... She chose UT Tyler for the opportunity to become successful on and off the field... She was impressed with the winning tradition that has been set in the softball program and its ability to carry with her for the rest of her life.
