It is the fourth best season for a setter in the UT-Tyler record book while her 10.97 assists per set are second all-time. Guzman finished her career with 2,186 assists which is third all-time.
A San Antonio native, Guzman played for Coach Lyndsay Mashe for four years with the last three being at UT-Tyler. Guzman is a four time All-ASC East player and three time All-ASC Academic selection. Guzman graduated with a Kinesiology degree from UT-Tyler and is looking forward to coaching with the Patriots this season.
“I am very excited to make this transition from player to coach, and I’m so lucky I get to experience that with this program and these incredible coaches”, Guzman said.” We had incredible runs in Division III and I’m so excited to continue to see this program grow and compete as we transition into Division II. I am looking forward to working with the Mashe’s because they are dedicated and bought in to what we want to accomplish here which is to win championships but they are also dedicated to the team, and making sure we are ready for life after athletics. I had such an incredible experience playing for the Mashe’s, they pushed me in ways that not only made me a better athlete but a better person as well. They were truly our family while we were away from our own and they were always working for the betterment of the team. The impact they have on their players is like no other, they truly invest in the team and care about making their players disciplined and hard working on and off the court.”
“We are really excited to have Reighanna join our staff”, Mashe said. Having played for us for four years she knows exactly how we do things in our program. She’ll bring a wealth of knowledge in coaching our setters and helping with our offensive system. We really enjoyed coaching her and she’s going to be a great addition to our staff.”
Along with her playing experience Guzman has coached with East Texas Juniors and has also done various camps in East Texas.
