Biography

2018: During his junior season, Burns appeared in all 58 games and recorded a .262 batting average. With the team’s postseason run, Burns tied the record for most games in a single season for the UT Tyler program. His 56 hits were the fifth-most in the Patriot lineup with 11 going for two bases, two triples, and three homeruns. He drove in 31 runs while his 43 runs scored were tied for second-most on the team. While on the base paths, Burns stole 13 bases, the fourth most in the lineup. At the end of the regular season, Burns was named Honorable Mention All-ASC.

2017: As a sophomore, Burns saw action in 25 contests and recorded 78 at-bats. He recorded 21 hits and drove in 11 RBI’s. After reaching base, he came around to score 15 runs himself. Of his 21 hits, four went for extra bases including two doubles, a triple, and a home run. At the end of the regular season, Burns was named to the ASC All-Academic team.

2016: As a freshman, Burns appeared in 34 games and batted .294. In his 94 at-bats, he recorded 28 hits with eight going for extra bases and also reached 10 times via a walk. Burns drove in 16 runs and also came around to score 16 runs of his own. Both his slugging and on-base percentage were in the .400’s at .415 and .411, respectively

Hometown: Center, Tx
Burns attended Center High School home of the Roughriders. He
graduated in 2015. He played baseball under coach David Sheppard. His
high school awards include First Team All-District as junior, and First
Team All-East Texas as a senior. Played travel baseball on the team the
Texas Prospects and was coached under Jeff Casey.

Personal:
Parents are John Michael and Holly Burns and brother to Luke, Jesse,
and Levi. Burns is majoring in marketing. He hopes to have a career in
sales.
