LONGVIEW, Texas - The UT Tyler Women's Soccer team took to the road for a matchup against LeTourneau University on Thursday night. The Patriots defeated LETU 1-0, improving to 8-2-1 overall.
Thursday's game featured another strong showing from the UT Tyler defense, limiting LETU to just four shots on goal.
Maya Dossing took the net for the Patriots, recording a shutout, stopping all four shots on goal.
The first half featured a back-and-forth battle but neither team would net a goal through the first 45 minutes of action.
In the 66th minute,
Kiara Rolen netted her third goal of the season. Rolen played a ball from
Kaycee West into the back of the net to give the Patriots a 1-0 advantage with 24 minutes left in regulation. Rolen's goal would prove to be all the Patriots would need to leave Longview with a win.
In total, the Patriots put up 22 shots on Thursday night. 11 of those shots were on goal, outdoing the Yellow Jackets 11-4 in the shots on goal category.
The Patriots are off on Friday before they head back down I-20 to take on East Texas Baptist University on Saturday. Saturday's matchup in Marshall, Texas is set to kick-off at 2:00 p.m.
