Box Score SPOKANE, Washington - The UT Tyler Women's Basketball team opened play in the Whitworth College Basketball Tournament on Friday evening. The Patriots first game came against Whitman University who is receiving votes in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Poll. UT Tyler fell 60-74, moving to 0-2 on the season.
FIRST QUARTER:
The first 10 minutes of play saw UT Tyler and Whitman combine for 34 points. Despite the Patriots putting up 13 points, Whitman would record 21 in the first quarter, putting the Patriots down by eight through one quarter of play.
SECOND QUARTER:
The Patriots would put up 10 in the second quarter but would fall 22 points behind at the end of the first half. The Whitman offense would put up 24 points in the second, stretching their early lead at the half.
THIRD QUARTER:
UT Tyler would respond in the third with their best offensive quarter of the game out of the intermission. The Patriots would put up 20 points in the third, outscoring Whitman and cutting the lead to 21 through 30 minutes of play.
FOURTH QUARTER:
The Patriots continued their second half charge in the final period of play on Friday. UT Tyler would score 17 points in the fourth while holding Whitman to just 10 points. The seven point advantage cut the lead to 14 before the final buzzer sounded.
