TYLER, Texas - The UT Tyler Men's Basketball team opened their home slate on Tuesday night in Tyler, hosting Dallas Christian University. The Patriots defeated the Crusaders 96-62, moving to 1-2 overall.
FIRST HALF:
The Patriots opened the game on a 6-2 run that spanned 5:30. The Crusaders came within a point with 12 minutes remaining but UT Tyler would not surrender the lead throughout the entire game.
Davis Moore sank a three with 2:01 left in the first half to put UT Tyler up double-digits (31-21).
UT Tyler would close the half with a 6-1 run that put them ahead 37-22.
Moore led the Patriots in the first half with seven points, going 2-2 at the stripe.
Darius Alford recorded a team-high five rebounds in the first 20 minutes of play.
SECOND HALF:
UT Tyler would hold their 12 point lead through the first four minutes of the second half before stretching the lead. A
Jared Jenkins three would give UT Tyler a 20-point lead at the 14:38 mark.
With 3:38 remaining in regulation, the Patriots would stretch their lead to 30 points after
Chris Craig recorded a basket.
Deven Banitt sealed the victory with a layup with 1:24 remaining, putting UT Tyler ahead by 34.
Tyrick Bennet recorded a team-high 10 points in the second half while Banitt and
Trey Teal each recorded five rebounds.

The Patriots used 54 points in the paint while holding the lead throughout the game. The UT Tyler bench contributed 49 points while scoring 16 second chance points.
