BELTON, Texas - The UT Tyler Men's Basketball team wrapped up a road trip on Monday with a matchup against Mary Hardin Baylor. The Patriots fell 78-96, moving to 4-5 overall.
The Patriots fell behind early in Monday's game as UMHB opened the game on a 12-0 run that spanned 5:29. The run would end after
Darius Alford drained a three followed by a jumper in the paint from Tyrick Bennet. UT Tyler would bring the game within seven points before UMHB tallied 50 points in the first 20 minutes of action. The Patriots would post 30 points in the first half, down 30-50 heading into the intermission.
The Patriots would respond with a late push in the second half of play. UMHB had pushed their lead to 30 points before the Patriots would cut the lead to 18 before the final buzzer sounded. UT Tyler ended the half on a 15-3 run.
BY THE NUMBERS:
The Patriots connected on seven three point shots in the game, scoring 36 points in the paint. The UT Tyler bench continued to contribute big numbers, posting 56 points. The Patriots would post 20 second chance points while scoring 15 points off of turnovers.
UT TYLER LEADERS:
Four Patriots would post double digit scoring numbers, highlighted by Alford's 23 point showing. Just two days removed from dropping 25, Alford five rebounds and three steals.
Omar Mohamed would score 12 points, snagging a pair of steals, and hauled in three rebounds.
Xavier Fogle and
Chris Craig each put up 10 points on Monday.
