WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The UT Tyler Women's Basketball team took on Midwestern State University - Texas on Wednesday evening. The Patriots fell 36-95, moving to 6-5 overall.
The Patriots opened the first quarter with a tight battle against a future Division II and Lone Star Conference opponent on Wednesday. UT Tyler would open the game with an 11-point first quarter. MSU-Texas tallied 19 points in the first 10 minutes of play as the Patriots found themselves down eight heading into the second quarter. The Mustangs would take control of the game in the second quarter, holding the Patriots to eight points. The Patriots would trail by 28 at the half as MSU-Texas put up 28 points in the second.
The Mustangs would extend their lead out of the break, holding UT Tyler to 11 points while scoring 27. The final period saw the Patriots fall out of contention as the Mustangs held the Patriots to six points, scoring 21 in the fourth quarter.

Samantha Odom and
Bianca Valderrama led the way for UT Tyler, each scoring six points.
Carissa Spiker would record five points in the loss. Odom led the way on the boards, hauling in seven rebounds.

The Patriots are off until January 3, 2019 as they will host Sul Ross State in the Louise Herrington Patriot Center. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and admission will be free.
