TYLER, Texas - The UT Tyler Men's Basketball team hosted McMurry University on Wednesday night in the Herrington Patriot Center. Coming into the game on a three-game winning streak, the Patriots would fall 68-86, moving to 3-3 overall.
FIRST HALF:
The Patriots would score the first two baskets of the game on Wednesday. UT Tyler pulled ahead 4-0 at the 18:46 mark on an
Xavier Fogle three. McMurry would cut the lead to one with just under 16 minutes remaining.
With 13:28 remaining, UT Tyler took their largest lead of the game at seven points. Three free-throws from
Davis Moore put the Patriots ahead 16-9.
McMurry would fight back into the game, taking their first lead with 5:54 remaining in the half.
The Patriots would take the lead one more time before the final buzzer sounded with UT Tyler down 35-41.
SECOND HALF:
The Patriots would cut the lead to four early in the second half but would be unable to come back to tie the game.
The Warhawks put up 45 points in the second half while holding UT Tyler to just 33.
When the final buzzer sounded on Wednesday, UT Tyler trailed 68-86.
BY THE NUMBERS:
The Patriots connected on eight shots from behind the arc while sinking 14 shots from the line.
UT Tyler would score 22 points off of turnovers and scored 22 points in the paint.
The Patriot bench contributed 31 points while scoring six second chance points.
UT TYLER LEADERS:
Brad Mason led the way offensively for UT Tyler, scoring 16 points. Mason went 3-5 from behind the arc and 6-11 from the field.
Darius Alford would be the second Patriot to score double-digit points, recording 14 points and five boards.
Xavier Fogle and
Davis Moore each finished the night with nine points.
Corbin Stephens and
Jared Jenkins each recorded a team-high six rebounds.
