TYLER, Texas - The UT Tyler Women's Basketball picked up their fourth straight win on Wednesday as they defeated McMurry at home. The Patriots downed the Warhawks 84-60 to move to 4-3 overall.
The Patriots would shoot 50.7% from the field and drained eight three-point shots en-route to the victory.
FIRST HALF:
The Patriots opened the game strong, jumping out to an early seven point lead. Through the first four minutes of play, the Patriots outscored McMurry 16-9.
McMurry would get the game within six points before the Patriots opened a late 12-point lead in the first quarter.
A Mykaela Alfred three put UT Tyler up 27-12 with 1:42 remaining before a three from McMurry cut the lead to 12.
UT Tyler would dominate play in the second quarter, stretching their lead to 26 in the final 10 minutes of the half.
The Patriots would score 25 points in the second quarter while holding McMurry to just 11 points.
Through 20 minutes of play, the Patriots would lead the Warhawks 52-26.
SECOND HALF:
After opening a 26-point lead at the half, UT Tyler would add on to their lead in the third quarter.
The Patriots would use a 12-point advantage in the third quarter to go ahead 74-36. The 38-point lead would be the largest of the game for the Patriots.
The final quarter of play would see the Warhawks cut the lead to 24 before the final buzzer sounded. Despite the fourth quarter differential, UT Tyler coasted to their fourth straight victory when the final buzzer sounded.
BY THE NUMBERS:
Carissa Spiker would lead all scorers in Wednesday's win. Spiker put up 20 points while shooting 3-4 from behind the arc and 3-3 from the line.
Aubree Adams recorded 16 points and five rebounds, shooting 8-11 from the field.
Bianca Valderrama would put up 12 points while pulling in a team-high seven boards.
Tori Shoemaker was the fourth Patriot to record double-digit points, scoring 10 points while shooting 5-7 from the field.
The Patriots will host Hardin Simmons on Friday, December 7 at 5:30 p.m. in the Herrington Patriot Center.
