MARSHALL, Texas - The #23 UT Tyler Women's Volleyball team took on East Texas Baptist University on Tuesday night, downing the Tigers 3-1. UT Tyler moves to 8-1 overall this season.
The Patriots took on ETBU fresh off their second week inside the AVCA Coach's Poll Top 25 on Tuesday Night. UT Tyler defeated the Tigers 25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15.
FIRST SET: UT Tyler 25 - ETBU 20
With the first set of the night tied at six, UT Tyler opened a six-point lead after a 6-0 run. The six-point run would be the largest for the Patriots before setting the Tigers down 25-20 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
SECOND SET: UT Tyler 25 - ETBU 17
The Patriots used a trio of three-point runs in the second set to open a 2-0 lead in the match. UT Tyler put home the first three points of the set, never allowing ETBU to bring the set within two points. The Patriots held an eight point lead in the final stages of the set, holding the lead through the set-point.
THIRD SET: UT Tyler 22 - ETBU 25
The Tigers would take their lone set of the night after using two long runs to down the Patriots by three points in the third set.
FOURTH SET: UT Tyler 25 - ETBU 15
With the fourth set of the night tied at 10, UT Tyler scored eight straight points to open an 18-10 lead over the Tigers. A five-point run late in the set would help the Patriots defeat the Tigers by 10 points in the final set, moving to 8-1 on the 2018 season.
