ALPINE, Texas - The #23 UT Tyler Volleyball team opened ASC Crossover with a 3-0 sweep of Sul Ross on Friday to move to 9-1 overall.
The Patriots who were ranked inside the AVCA Coach's Poll at #23 for the second straight week continued their roll with a sweep (25-18, 25-21, 00-00) of Sul Ross on Friday evening.
FIRST SET: #23 UT Tyler 25 - Sul Ross 18
UT Tyler was down 8-9 in the first set before outscoring Sul Ross 10-4 over the next 14 points to open an 18-13 lead. UT Tyler would score nine of the final 12 points to take the first set 25-17 and open a 1-0 lead in Friday's match.
SECOND SET: #23 UT Tyler 25 - Sul Ross 21
The Patriots opened a three-point lead at 9-6 in the beginning stages of the second set and would not look back, moving to 2-0 in the match. The Patriots opened a 16-8 lead in the second before Sul Ross brought the set within two-points late. UT Tyler never relinquished their second set lead, taking the set 25-21.
THIRD SET: #23 UT Tyler 25 - Sul Ross 11
UT Tyler took a commanding lead early in the third set on Friday. The Patriots went ahead 13-4 before stretching their lead to 13 before the final point was recorded, giving UT Tyler a 14-point advantage over Sul Ross and the 3-0 win.
With the win, UT Tyler has won their fourth straight match and move to 9-1. ASC Crossover play in Alpine continues on Saturday. The Patriots will take on McMurry at 12:00 p.m. and Hardin-Simmons at 4:00 p.m.
