TYLER, Texas - The UT Tyler Women's Soccer team opened the home portion of the schedule in Tyler on Thursday night. UT Tyler hosted Mary Hardin-Baylor, drawing with the Cru to move to 4-1-1 overall this season.
The first half saw the Patriots and UMHB match one another throughout. Neither team would net a goal but UT Tyler fend off seven shots from UMHB.
The scoreless game would be broken in the 50th minute when
Kaelyn Steitz netted her fourth goal of the season to put UT Tyler ahead 1-0. Steitz worked around a defender in the Patriots half of the field, leading to a breakaway opportunity. Steitz would bury her shot past the keeper to set the tone in the second half.
20 minutes later, UMHB would answer the UT Tyler goal, tying the game in the 70th minute.
Neither team would net a goal in the final 20 minutes of regulation, leading to an overtime matchup.
The Patriots and Cru would continue their stalemate through two overtime periods, pushing UT Tyler to 4-1-1 on the season.
UT Tyler returns to action on Saturday, September 22 when they host Concordia. The match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be a part of UT Tyler's Family Day festival.
