TYLER, Texas - The UT Tyler Women's Soccer team hosted Concordia University for a rainy day showdown on Saturday. UT Tyler picked up the win, moving to 5-1-1 overall.
UT Tyler would use three goals in a matter of 10 minutes to set an early tone on Saturday.
Despite kickoff being pushed forward five hours, UT Tyler set the pace in the first 25 minutes of action.
Kaelyn Steitz netted the first goal of the game on a ball played forward by
Mariah Harmon. Steitz would bury the goal to bottom left corner to put UT Tyler ahead 1-0 in the 14th minute.
Just six minutes later
Kiara Rolen netted her first goal of the season, giving UT Tyler a 2-0 advantage. Rolen would break the Tornado defense and buried a one-on-one opportunity in the back of the net in the 20th minute.
In the 24th minute, Rolen would add her second goal of the game and the season.
Kiersten Ehler played a ball across the box that Rolen deposited into the back of the net, giving UT Tyler a 3-0 lead.
With just a minute left in the first half, Concordia cut the lead to two with a goal in the 44th minute of play.
UT Tyler would hold Concordia at bay throughout the final 45 minutes, allowing just two shots while the Patriots were able to get nine shots off.
The Patriots return to action on Thursday night when they take on McMurry in Abilene, Texas. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
