JACKSON, Mississippi - The UT Tyler Men's Basketball team closed out a weekend road trip with a matchup against Belhaven University on Saturday. The Patriots fell 66-90, moving to 6-9 overall.
The Patriots opened the game with a 6-1 run that saw UT Tyler take the early lead. The Blazers took their first lead of the game with just under 14 minutes remaining before holding their lead through the halftime break. The game remained within 10 points with just over nine minutes remaining before the Patriots fell behind 27-47 at the half.
The Patriots would respond by scoring 39 points in the second half, cutting into the Blazer scoring. UT Tyler held the Blazers to 43 points in the second half but would eventually fall 66-90.
UT TYLER LEADERS:
Darius Alford led the way for the Patriots, dropping 23 points while recording five rebounds.
Xavier Fogle finished the night with 13 points and five assists.
Omar Mohamed led the team in rebounding, hauling in seven boards.
The Patriots return to Tyler on Thursday, January 17. UT Tyler will host UT Dallas in the Louise Herrington Patriot Center at 7:30 p.m.
