TYLER, Texas - The UT Tyler Women's Basketball team hosted LeTourneau on Saturday in the Louise Herrington Patriot Center. The Patriots moved to 11-8 after defeating LETU 61-44.
The first 10 minute of play saw the Patriots and Yellow Jackets combine for 29 points. A tight first quarter would not feature a lead of more than five for either team. The game was tied until a late three from LETU gave the Yellow Jackets a 16-13 lead after the buzzer sounded. The Patriots would erase the early deficit in the second quarter, holding LETU to just seven points. UT Tyler would score 11 points, taking a 24-23 lead into the half.
The third quarter would see the teams play to a 9-9 draw, as the Patriots entered the fourth quarter ahead 33-32. The one point lead would be all the Patriots needed as UT Tyler used their best offensive quarter of the afternoon. The Patriots would score 28 points in the final 10 minutes of play to open a 17 point lead over the Yellow Jackets. When the final buzzer sounded, UT Tyler led 61-44.

Bianca Valderrama and
Carissa Spiker each finished the afternoon with 11 points. Valderrama added five rebounds while Spiker recorded two.
Shadazia Birchette recorded a team-high 11 rebounds in the win.
