LONGVIEW, Texas - The UT Tyler Men's Basketball team took on LeTourneau University on Thursday evening. The Patriots fell 76-92, moving to 8-13 overall.
Darius Alford led the way for UT Tyler, scoring 21 points in the loss. Alford added six rebounds.
Tyrick Bennett scored 15 points while
Corbin Stephens finished with 14.
Omar Mohamed scored 10 points and finished with a team high seven rebounds.
UT Tyler took an early 9-3 advantage on Thursday, jumping ahead in the first two minutes of play. LETU took their first lead of the night with 14 minutes remaining in the first half. UT Tyler would keep the game tight over the next 11 minutes before LETU took their first lead of more than 10. When the first half finished, UT Tyler trailed 34-44.
The Patriots responded with a stronger second half, putting up 42 points. LETU would not allow the Patriots back into the game, scoring 48 and taking the game by the eventual final score of 76-92.
Despite the loss, UT Tyler shot 52.3% from the field and connected on three shots from behind the arc. The Patriots scored 54 points in the paint and got 15 of their points off of turnovers.
UT Tyler is back in action on Saturday as they travel to Marshall, Texas to play East Texas Baptist.
