COMMERCE, Texas – The UT Tyler women's soccer team erased an early deficit with
Mariah Harmon's third goal of the season, but Texas A&M-Commerce went back in front at the start of the second half and held on for a 2-1 win over the Patriots Thursday afternoon.
With the loss, UT Tyler falls to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in Lone Star Conference play, while A&M-Commerce improves to 6-3-1 overall and 4-3 in the LSC.
How It Happened: Both teams created early scoring opportunities, as UT Tyler put the game's first shot on goal when
Korey Cyr's short in the ninth minute forced a save from Lions goalkeeper Jen Peters. Within the next 90 seconds, A&M-Commerce had both its first shot, an attempt from Leslie Campuzano which missed wide, and a Campuzano strike that found the back of the net just before the 10-minute mark.
It took less than two minutes for Harmon to deliver the equalizer, as she scored her third goal of the year with an assist credited to
Landri Edwards on the 12
th-minute score which tied the game at 1-1.
A&M-Commerce kept UT Tyler goalkeeper
Camri Cecil busy the rest of the half, putting another nine shots towards Cecil, who made four first-half saves to keep the score tied at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The attack shifted to the other end to start the second half, as UT Tyler produced three shots, all on goal, in the first six minutes of play before Naomi Sink broke the tie in the 53
rd minute by scoring on the first A&M-Commerce shot of the second half. The Lions defense took over from there, limiting UT Tyler to just three more shots and one corner kick over the final 37 minutes of play.

Landri Edwards recorded her first assist of the year, becoming the 14
th UT Tyler player to register a point this season… The Patriots put six of their nine shots on goal, improving the team shots on goal percentage to .538 (63 shots on goal with 117 shots), which ranks second in the Lone Star Conference behind Angelo State.
