MAGNOLIA, Ark.—The University of Texas at Tyler Women's Tennis (1-3) dropped their matchup with NCAA Division II Southern Arkansas University (5-2) Tuesday evening, 7-0. It was the fourth-consecutive dual match with an NCAA Division II opponent for the Patriots.
The lone match victory of the day for the Patriots came at number-three doubles when the duo of freshman
Chloe Chawner (Holmfirth Yorkshire, England) and senior
Victoria Kniffen (Carrolton, Texas) earned a 6-4 victory. Chawner and Kniffen are now 3-1 together this spring. At number-two singles, freshman
Brooke Brewer (McKinney, Texas) and senior
Alexandra McKissick (Houston, Texas) fell just shy in their match, 6-4.
Freshman
Ana Claire Gerletti (Cypress, Texas) forced a third set at number-two singles. After dropping the first set, she narrowly edged her opponent, 7-6, in the second. The third set was close but Gerletti dropped fell, 7-5. Chawner and McKissick both put up fights at number-one and number-five singles. Both lost their matched, 6-3 and 6-2.
The Patriots will be in action again on March 6 when the host Dallas Baptist University at the summers Tennis Center. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
