TYLER, Texas—The University of Texas at Tyler Men's Tennis (2-8) fell to NCAA Division II No. 16 Midwestern State University (9-1) Tuesday afternoon in their return to the Summers Tennis Center.
In doubles play, two Patriots teams fell just shy at numbers-two and three. Junior
Daniel Rodriguez (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) and sophomore
Jose Currea (Bogota, Columbia) fell, 6-4, at number-two while junior
Ford Cunningham (League City, Texas) and sophomore
Connor Cooper (Tyler, Texas) dropped their match at number-three by the same score.
Junior
Gabriel Hidalgo (Barquisimento, Venezuela) was the lone Patriots to win a set in the teams' singles lineup. At number-three, he won the first set, 6-4, before dropping the next two and the match. Facing the fifth ranked player in the NCAA Division II, senior

The Patriots will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Clarksville, Arkansas for a 1 p.m. matchup with the University of the Ozarks.
