Martin, Jovanovic Added to Tennis Rosters for 2019-20

TYLER, Texas—The University of Texas at Tyler Men's and Women's Tennis Head Coach Adam Cohen announced the signing of one student-athlete to each team for the fall of 2019. Martin Thomas will join the men's roster while Marijana Jovanovic will join the women's squad.

"As we near the end of our recruitment process for this coming fall, the addition of these two individuals are sure to help solidify us as a program to watch as we make our debut in the Lone Star Conference," Cohen said of the two signees.

Thomas is currently attending boarding school in the UK and has been training since the age of three. He was the winner of the National Team Aegon Under-12 County Cup and the National Premiere Aegon Club Team. He also took the title in the singles of the Regional Tunbridge Wells and multiple wins in regional doubles events.

"From the moment he and his father stepped foot on campus for his visit, we knew Martin would be a great addition to our program," Cohen said. "Thomas reached the doubles quarter final in the UK national tour championships and looks to make a big impact this fall.

Jovanovic has already proven she can compete with some of the top NCAA tennis players in the country. With a number of wins in junior competition, Jovanovic has defeated a number of opponents now competing at the NCAA Division I level.

"She was incredible throughout the recruitment process. She showed immediate commitment and eagerness to be a part of the Patriot family which was a huge factor in knowing she was right for our program," Cohen said. "You can anticipate Jovanovic making a huge splash here in Tyler this coming fall"

The Patriots' 2019 season continues on Tuesday when both teams travel to Clarksville, Arkansas for a 2:30 p.m. matchup with the University of the Ozarks.
