CLARKSVILLE, Ark.—The University of Texas at Tyler Women's Tennis (5-8) swept a midweek matchup on the road at the University of the Ozarks (4-6) in a match originally scheduled for Sunday.
The Patriots swept all three doubles matches including an 8-0 shutout at number-three by freshman
Chloe Chawner (Holmfirth Yorkshire, England) and senior
Victoria Kniffen (Kerrville, Texas) for their sixth victory of the season and third in a row. The duo of freshman
Anna Claire Gerletti (Cypress, Texas) and senior
Lauren Kuhn (Carrolton, Texas) picked up an 8-3 win at the top spot in the doubles lineup while senior
Alexandra McKissick (Houston, Texas) and freshman
Brooke Brewer (McKinney, Texas) took an 8-1 victory at number-two.
At number-four singles, Brewer won her third match in a row and seventh of the season with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. Three more singles competitors also picked up their second win of the afternoon with Chawner, Gerletti, and Kuhn getting wins in the top three spots of the singles lineup. Sophomore
Caitlyn Cox (Tyler, Texas) earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at number-five while senior
Savannah Seely (North Richland Hills, Texas) rounded out the lineup with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
The Patriots will host a pair of matches this weekend when they welcome East Texas Baptist University to the Summers Tennis Center on Friday and Belhaven University on Saturday. Friday's match will begin at 3:30 p.m. with Saturday's contest set to begin at 10 a.m.
