TYLER, Texas—The University of Texas at Tyler Women's Tennis (1-4) dropped an afternoon matchup against NCAA Division II opponent Dallas Baptist University (8-4) Wednesday afternoon at the Summers Tennis Center, 4-2. The match was originally postponed from February 21.
The Patriots dropped all three doubles matches to begin the day, but UT Tyler put up strong fights at number-two and three. Freshman
Brooke Brewer (McKinney, Texas) and senior
Alexandra McKissick (Houston, Texas) fell just shy at number-two, 6-4, while freshman
Chloe Chawner (Holmfirth Yorkshire, England) and senior
Victoria Kniffen (Kerville, Texas) fell, 7-5.
Brewer rebounded with her second singles victory of the season at number-four. It was also won of the closes matches of the season for the Patriots with Brewer grabbing a first set victory, 6-4. She dropped the second set before eventually taking the third set, 12-10.
Senior
Lauren Kuhn (Carrolton, Texas) dominated her match at number-three singles. She picked up her first victory of the season with back-to-back 6-1 set victories. Chawner also had a close match at number-one. She forced a third set with a 6-3 victory in the second but dropped the third set.
The Patriots will travel to Orlando Florida for six matches next week against NCAA Division I and II opponents. The week will begin with a pair of matches against Shippensburg University and Providence College on Monday.
