PINEVILLE, Louisiana—The University of Texas at Tyler Men's Tennis (5-8) traveled to Louisiana College (2-9) on Friday morning and came away with a 9-0 sweep.
In their first match together this season, senior
Alvar De La Mano (Barcelona, Spain) and sophomore
Connor Cooper (Tyler, Texas) earned an 8-0 sweep at number-three in the doubles lineup. Both Patriot doubles duos at numbers-one and two earned their third straight wins together highlighted by senior
Michael Apple (Memphis, Tennessee) and junior
Gabriel Hidalgo (Barquisimento, Venezuela) getting an 8-1 win at the top of the lineup. Junior
Daniel Rodriguez (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) and sophomore
Jose Currea (Bogota, Columbia) also won with an 8-1 score at number-two.
All six doubles competitors also had a took part in the singles lineup and all six won their second match of the day with a clean sweep of the Wildcats. UT Tyler earned 6-0, 6-0 wins in all six match-ups with five Patriots winning their third straight matches including, Apple, Currea, Didalgo, De La Mano, and Rodriguez.
The Patriots will return to action on Monday when they travel to Letourneau University for a 4 p.m. match.
