AUSTIN, Texas—The University of Texas at Tyler Women's Tennis (9-10) dropped their final match of the 2019 season, 6-1, to NCAA Division II No. 16 St. Edwards University (17-4). The two teams will be regular opponents in the future with both set to join the Lone Star Conference in 2019-20.
It was a close match at number-two in the doubles lineup with senior
Alexandra McKissick (Houston, Texas) and senior
Lauren Kuhn (Carrolton, Texas) falling just shy. The fell 7-6 with a narrow defeat, 8-6 in the tiebreak.
Freshman
Brooke Brewer (McKinney, Texas) recorded the lone point of the match for the Patriots with her win at number-four in singles play. She picked up her team-leading 10
th win of the season with a three-set win. She took the first set, 6-3, before her opponents forced a third set which Brewer won, 10-6. Freshman
Chloe Chawner (Holmfirth Yorkshire, England) also went three sets in her match at number-one. She got out to an early lead with a 6-1 victory in the first set but then dropped the next two sets and the match.
The Patriots will not compete again until the 2019-20 academic year.
