EL PASO, Texas—The University of Texas at Tyler Women's Tennis (6-9) dropped an afternoon matchup, 7-0, on the road at NCAA Division I the University of Texas at El Paso (7-12).
At the top of the doubles lineup, freshmen
Anna Claire Gerletti (Cypress, Texas) and
Brooke Brewer (McKinney, Texas) put up a strong fight with a 6-3 loss. Freshman
Chloe Chawner (Holmirth Yorkshire, England) and senior
Victoria Kniffen (Kerrville, Texas) dropped their match at number-two by the same score.
Moving to singles action, Gerletti had a strong outing at number-two in the Patriot lineup. She dropped the first set, 6-2, before playing to a 6-3 loss in the second set. Senior
Lauren Kuhn (Carrolton, Texas) and Kniffen both lost their first set at numbers-four and five by a score of 6-3 before being swept in the second set.
The Patriots will be back in action on Sunday morning when they take on NCAA Division II and future Lone Star Conference opponent Western New Mexico University at 10 a.m. in El Paso, Texas.
