EL PASO, Texas—The University of Texas at Tyler Women's Tennis (7-9) finished their road trip to west Texas with a 5-2 victory over NCAA Division II and future Lone Start Conference opponent Western New Mexico University (7-14) on Sunday afternoon.

Chloe Chawner (Holmfirth Yorkshire, England) and senior
Victoria Kniffen (Kerrville, Texas) picking up their team-leading eighth win together this season. They got their 8-1 win at number-two while freshman
Brooke Brewer (McKinney, Texas) and freshman
Anna Claire Gerletti (Cypress, Texas) won by a score of 8-1 at the top of the lineup. Freshman
Ana Zaidan (Betim, Minas Gerais, Brazil) and senior
Lauren Kuhn (Carrolton, Texas) rounded out doubles play with an 8-1 win.
Four Patriots picked up their second win of the day in singles action including Chawner at the top of the lineup. She won her sixth match of the season with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Kuhn fended off her WNMU opponent in three sets after grabbing a 6-4 win in the first set. She took the final set, 10-6, to seal the victory.
Kniffen and Zaidan grabbed wins at numbers-five and six to finish singles play. At number-five, Kniffen earned a quick 6-2, 6-1 win with Zaidan closes out the day with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
The Patriots will continue their span of five road matches to end the season next weekend against a pair of American Southwest Conference opponents. Both matches will be held on Saturday with the first match at Louisiana College beginning at 10 a.m. before they head to LeTourneau University for a 3 p.m. start time.
