Agyeman's Highlight Finish Gives Patriots 1-0 Win over UT Permian Basin

Michael Agyeman scored in the 85th minute to collect UT Tyler a second straight one-goal win on Saturday afternoon

ODESSA, TEXAS – Michael Agyeman scored the game winning goal in the 85th minute to secure the second straight win for UT Tyler in a 1-0 road victory over UT Permian Basin on Saturday afternoon.

Agyeman collected a loose ball just outside the penalty box and sent a spectacular shot that found the upper 90 of the goal to provide the difference in UT Tyler's second straight one-goal win. The Patriots move to 4-2-1 on the year thanks to the back-to-back tight wins on Saturday afternoon and back on Sept. 25 in a 4-3 win over Texas A&M International.

The game-winning goal from Agyeman is his first of the season and effectively ended a game that featured the lowest combined shot total for any game this season for UT Tyler. The two sides combined for just 13 shots, nine of which were taken by UT Tyler.

UT Permian Basin was limited to just four shot attempts, and never truly threatened to put a goal on the board against a sound Patriot defensive effort. UT Tyler managed four shot on goal attempts, two of which came from the foot of Agyeman.

None of those efforts on the Falcon net were as impressive as the finish Agyeman managed at the 84:37 mark to break the scoreless tie. Freshman Benjamin Curtis had the lone shot on goal attempt in the opening half off of a corner kick from the Patriots, while Sören Wald posted the only other non-Agyeman attempt on goal for the match.

The Patriots will have one more non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon, a road contest beginning at 3 p.m. against Mississippi College. UT Tyler will open up LSC play in a rematch of Saturday's contest against UT Permian Basin, this time in Tyler, on Oct. 9 at 4 p.m.
