Box Score TYLER, TEXAS – The Patriots could not get the offense firing as they fall to Lubbock Christian by a score of 4-0 and snap their unbeaten streak at home.
The first few minutes of the first half did not produce quality chances for either side. The Patriots earned a corner just three minutes into the game, and that was played across the front of the goal, but nobody was home to put it away.
Just over 15 minutes into the contest, Lubbock Christian struck first. Pablo Diez took a pass from Luciano Rodriguez and finished it just underneath goalkeeper
Mathias Eriksen to make the score 1-0.
10 minutes later, it was the Chaps who again struck with another goal. Jacopo Ghezzi fed a pass to Kevin Mejias who finished a goal with his right foot to the upper 90 of the goal. That goal gave the Chaps a 2-0 advantage.
Another 10 minutes later, the Chaps got on the board with their third goal of the half. Meijas took advantage of a misplayed long ball, and dribbled into the box and finished just past a diving Eriksen.
Lubbock Christian outshot the Patriots 14-5 during the first half, and outshot them 22-8 on the day. The Patriots recorded just one shot on goal to the Chaps eight for the match.
In the second half of play, it took just under one minute for the Chaps to get their fourth and final goal of the match. After a misplayed ball gave Lubbock Christian a corner kick, the Chaps took advantage. The ball was deflected in the box, and landed right at the feet of Johnathan Woods, who was able to slot it home on the left side.
Leading the way for the Patriots in shots on the afternoon was
Michael Agyeman and
Edwin Saldivar, with Saldivar recording the only shot on goal in the afternoon matchup.
Mathias Eriksen made four saves on the afternoon.
The Patriots will get a week off from LSC action as they get a break in the schedule. Their next contest will be next Saturday, October 30
th against Texas A&M International. That will be a road game for the Patriots in Laredo, Texas.
The next and final home game of the season for UT Tyler will be on November 3
rd against (RV) St. Mary's. That game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. kickoff and will be the annual blue out game for the Patriots.
