COMMERCE, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler women's soccer team fell by a 6-0 final tally to Texas A&M-Commerce on the road Wednesday night in Commerce, Texas.
UT Tyler posted 17 shots in the second half, but was unable to answer three first half and three second half goals by the Lions to move to 4-4 on the season and 2-3 in Lone Star Conference play. Freshman
Faith Adje led the Patriots with four shots in the contest, while
Brooklyn Robinson and
Edina Cakic both posted three each.
The Patriots did their best to answer a 3-0 deficit at the halftime break, putting all five of their shot on goal attempts on the board in the second half of action. All five of the attempts came from different Patriots on a night in which Texas A&M-Commerce recorded 19 shots of their own.
UT Tyler noticeably picked up the pace as the game kicked off in the second half of action, and will look to use that momentum as they continue a week featuring two tough tests against Texas A&M-Commerce and West Texas A&M. The Patriots used that pressure to challenge the Lion back line, but were left open to a few counteracts that Texas A&M-Commerce was able to capitalize on.
The 3-0 deficit held until the late stages of the match before three goals within the last 10 minutes of the contest answered the Patriot pressure. Keepers
Victoria Turner and
Camri Cecil both played a half of action in the match, totaling six saves between them.
UT Tyler will return home on Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. match against #21 West Texas A&M.
