LAREDO, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler women's basketball team fell in a Sunday afternoon match up with Texas A&M International by a final score of 98-60.

Taylor Jackson scored a career-high 24 points in the contest, which stands as the highest individual point total in the Division II era for the Patriots, as the Mckinney, Texas native hit 7-of-14 shots from the field in her effort. Jackson also led the rebounding effort for the Patriots totaling seven for the afternoon, also a career high.
UT Tyler fell behind early in the contest, trailing 59-22 at the halftime break, put pieced together a quality second half which saw the Patriots post 38 points, including a 25-point third quarter effort.
UT Tyler will return home on Wednesday evening for a match up against Texas A&M-Kingsville that will kick off a stretch of three home games in the final four contests of the 2020-21 season.
How it Happened: Texas A&M International padded a 20-9 early lead with 2:30 remaining on the clock in the first quarter up to 28-12 at the conclusion of the opening frame. The Dustdevils continued to apply pressure and capitalized on that pressure, building a 59-22 lead at the halftime break.
UT Tyler responded with a gritty fight in the second half of action, as Jackson got her great afternoon truly rolling in the third quarter with 11 points in the quarter alone. She totaled 11 of the aforementioned 25 points for UT Tyler in that quarter, narrowing the deficit to 78-47 at the end of three.
That scoring slowed a bit for UT Tyler in the fourth and final quarter of action for the Patriots as they were outscored 20-to-13 to finish off the contest.
A Look at the Numbers: UT Tyler shot 37.3 percent (19-of-51) for the game, connecting on a season-best 42.9 percent (6-of-14) from beyond the three-point arc along the way… Texas A&M International shot 48.6 percent (35-of-72) from the field and made 15 three pointers in the contest… The Dustdevils also won the rebounding battle 41-to-30… The Patriots had 21 points that came from individuals off of the bench in the game.
Patriot Standouts: Jackson was able to contribute in all facets of the game on Sunday afternoon, adding to her 24-point, seven-rebound effort with an assist and two steals…
Tyreesha Blaylock added to Jackson's trio of three-point makes with two of her own…
Shala Robinson finished with eight points and five rebounds, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
