Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- UT Tyler's bid for back-to-back wins came up short Saturday, as the Patriots lost to Southwest Baptist by a 4-1 margin.
UT Tyler narrowly lost the doubles point, falling in a set tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles while the Patriots' No. 1 tandem held a 6-5 lead. In singles play,
Gonzalo Fernandez Gil won in straight sets (6-2, 6-3), but after Southwest Baptist posted a straight-sets win at No. 4 singles, the Bearcats claimed 3-set wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to clinch the match victory.
With the defeat, UT Tyler fell to 2-5 overall. The Patriots take on UT Arlington in an exhibition match on Monday, March 8, which will be followed two days later by a match against NCAA Division II's No. 18-ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State.
