Box Score SILVER CITY, N.M. -- UT Tyler kept its unbeaten start to Lone Star Conference play going with a convincing 6-1 road win over Western New Mexico on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Patriots are now 5-0 in LSC play with just a week left in their regular season schedule. UT Tyler will host DBU and Midwestern State next weekend to close out the year.
 
A doubles sweep got Saturday's victory started, as the Patriots scored 6-4 wins from the No. 2 and No. 3 positions in doubles before Jan Lucca Marquardt and Michael Apple completed the sweep at the top of the lineup with a 7-6 (7-3) tiebreaker victory.
 
UT Tyler then won 5 of the 6 doubles matches, all in straight sets to secure the team victory. Jonathan Vega's win over Egor Shestakov at the top of the singles lineup was Western New Mexico's lone win of the match, as Marquardt added a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot while Gonzalo Fernandez Gil (No. 3), Yudai Watanabe (No. 4), Jorge Sala Frigeri (No. 5), and Jonas Dixon (No. 6) all posted wins in straight sets.
 
With the win, UT Tyler is now 8-7 overall to go with its perfect 5-0 LSC record, while Western New Mexico fell to 0-14 overall and 0-4 in the LSC.
 
The LSC-leading Patriots wrap up the 2021 season at home next weekend, taking on DBU on Friday, April 16, before hosting Midwestern State on Saturday, April 17.
