Men’s Tennis Posts 7-0 Win Over UAFS

UT Tyler men’s tennis won its second straight Lone Star Conference match with a convincing 6-0 win Friday over UAFS

TYLER, Texas -- UT Tyler cruised to a 7-0 win over UAFS Friday afternoon, keeping the Patriots perfect through the first two matches of Lone Star Conference play this season.
 
The victory sets up a Saturday morning clash between LSC unbeatens, as the Patriots welcome Cameron to the Summers Tennis Center for a matchup with the Aggies, who are 8-5 overall and 3-0 in LSC play. UT Tyler is currently 5-7 overall and 2-0 in the LSC.
 
In Friday's match, UT Tyler swept all three doubles matches with a combined 18-6 margin to earn the doubles point. Five of the six singles matches were decided in straight sets, with Jan Lucca Marquardt posting a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles while Jonas Dixon collected a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 to post the largest individual margins of victory across the singles lineup.
 
Other winners included Egor Shestakov at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-2), Gonzalo Fernandez Gil at No. 3 (3-6, 6-1, 6-4), Yudai Watanabe at No. 4 (6-3, 6-2), and Moritz Mayer at No. 5 (6-4, 6-4).
 
Saturday's matchup with Cameron begins at 10 a.m., and the winner will claim the early lead in the LSC standings as UT Tyler and Cameron are the only remaining undefeated teams in the conference.
