Patriots Post 5-2 Win Over Texas A&M-Kingsville

UT Tyler swept doubles and won 4-of-6 singles matches to roll to a 5-2 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville

Box Score TYLER, Texas -- UT Tyler gained another crucial Lone Star Conference victory Saturday, posting a 5-2 win at home over Texas A&M-Kingsville.
 
The Patriots notched a sweep of all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point, and 3 of the top 4 singles matches to secure the team victory. With the win, UT Tyler improved to 12-4 overall and 5-2 in LSC play heading into its final match of the season. The Patriots take on NCAA Division II's No. 12-ranked Angelo State Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
 
Tanvikhaa Saravanan was the first to finish in both singles and doubles, teaming up with Eva Riekenbrauck for a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles before cruising to a 6-4, 6-0 win at the top of the singles lineup.
 
Leony Deutschmann added victories at the No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles positions, teaming up with Anna Claire Gerletti for a 6-3 win in doubles while posting her own singles win in straight sets (6-2, 6-1). Riekenbrauck and Gerletti also posted victories in singles to help the Patriots to the team win. Riekenbrauck won at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-2, and Gerletti bounced back from an opening-set defeat to win the second and third sets for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory.
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville fell to 8-8 overall and 5-4 in the LSC.
 
The Patriots conclude the season with Sunday's 10 a.m. matchup at home against No. 12 Angelo State, which enters the match as the LSC's lone unbeaten in women's tennis at 8-0 in conference play (13-3 overall).
