Box Score MIDLAND, Texas -- The UT Tyler women's tennis team claimed its third consecutive win and its 10
th victory overall this season with a 7-0 sweep of UT Permian Basin on Thursday.
The Patriots posted identical 6-2 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions to earn the doubles point.
Gaini Ibrasheva scored a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 win at the top of the singles lineup, leading a group of four straight-set singles victories while
Akshaya Suresh (No. 4) and
Eva Riekenbrauck (No. 5) added victories in third-set tiebreakers to complete the sweep of the entire singles lineup.
With the victory, UT Tyler improved to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in Lone Star Conference play, while UT Permian Basin fell to 3-11 overall and 0-4 in the LSC.
The Patriots return to action Friday with an exhibition match at UTEP (NCAA Division I) before returning to LSC play by taking on Western New Mexico on April 10.
